Labyrinth Movie Fan Game (prototype)
Prototype
This is a personal project that I have been working on in my spare time. It is just an early prototype and there is a lot missing.
I would like this to eventually be a platformer/puzzler based on the Jim Henson movie, Labyrinth. The story in the game will loosely mirror the movie. Sarah has to navigate through the labyrinth, solving puzzles, meeting friends, and overcoming obstacles along the way to the castle to defeat the Goblin King and save her brother.
Controls for keyboard:
enter/return = START
space = SELECT
z = A
x = B
directional pad for movement

I haven't looked through the home brews in some time and I have to say, what a great idea! Such an excellent movie, one of my favorites as a kid and still try and watch it once a year. Will definitely be downloading and playing on my GBC!!!
Great! This is really just a proof of concept at best, but I'm hoping to work more on the project soon. Let me know what you think so far.
Very lovely! It's our main editor's favourite movie, so he hopes you will further work on it. :)
Well thank you for the encouragement! I'm working on two other projects currently, but I do intend to get back to this - hopefully soon.
I actually just received my first issue of The Homebrew Gaming Magazine and it is fantastic! Would you ever consider organizing the games by platform? I find myself skimming each page for the platforms that I'm most interested in.
Glad you like the magazine. As we hand set the layout in Canva, and this is already a very time-consuming task, we don't plan to sort system wise. The good thing is, you are forced to see all new releases for any system, and don't need to be scared to miss something, because you are not into a certain system :)
Nice game so far! I'd like to see more :D
Thanks! I've got big plans. :)
Please keep up your promising efforts 🙏
Thanks for checking it out!
Quite the passion project! Great artwork. I think I "beat" it, got to the door in the room with many doors (climbed the ladder) which brought me back to the title screen (no Goblin King). Controls are challenging and not all of them were immediately obvious (like double jumping) but this is a quality effort overall.
Thanks for your feedback and for playing it through! I hope to have the Goblin King boss fight at the end one day. :)
